Chia Pudding To Help You Fast
My favorite food to eat pre-fast is chia pudding. A few years ago, a friend told me that their Rabbi suggested they eat chia pudding before the fast to help them with the horrible symptoms they experience usually during a fast. The headaches, dizziness, light-headedness, etc.
So the following year I gave it a try. And I was amazed at how much easier fasting was. The chia pudding acts like a slow release hydration pill in your gut and all those symptoms of dehydration that you normally feel during a full day of fasting become minimal. I won't say that they are completely gone, but I will say that this hack definitely improved my Yom Kippor fast so much so that last year I spent the entire day with my then 20 month old daughter at the park, in the Israeli heat, and I felt hungry but fine until the fast was over.
So, here are my THREE favorite chia pudding recipes. Don't forget to make them the night before so they are ready and waiting for you in the fridge!
